Qualifications of Litigation Advocate, Andrew Swan

Educated at Kings College, Andrew received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Auckland in 1981 and then spent two years in the litigation department of Lawrence Anderson Buddle. After gaining practical experience as a staff solicitor at the full service law firm of Webster Malcolm and Kilpatrick, Andrew moved to the United States and worked as an operations manager for several years at San Francisco’s largest commercial painting company.

In 1993 Andrew was admitted as a barrister sole and had the privilege of joining the Southern Cross Chambers as an independent Barrister.

As a civil litigator, Andrew regularly appears as lead counsel in the High Court and has appeared numerous times in the various appellate courts. Andrews ability to negotiate pragmatic and complex disputes against the odds underpins his role as an experienced advocate in cases that require arbitration and mediation.
